  • Draw:     09:00hrs
  • Fish:      10:30 - 16:30hrs

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

 Match Format:

The event is one of the UK's largest team events where 200 anglers (100 per team) will compete for the bragging rights of the sport, anglers from the Midlands have the choice of which team they want to represent, this year some chose to fish against their mates on the opposing team as an added twist for themselves.
The match will take place over 8 (possibly all 9) lakes, the sections will be made up of either 8, 10 or 12 man (either 4, 5 or 6 anglers per team), it is set out this way to ensure an even split across the 8 lakes leaving plenty of spare pegs maximising the fishing potential. At the draw pegs are placed alternatively into 2 buckets (1 North & 1 South), then each angler will draw a peg from the bucket for the team they represent, so the format will work 1 peg north 1 peg south 1 peg north 1 peg south and so on for each lake, for the 10 man sections these will be alternated so team points are balanced throughout the match.. Points will be awarded in reverse order for each section, so 1st place = 1 point and 8th 10th or 12th place will accumulate 8, 10 or 12 points respectively, any angler dry netting will receive 9, 11 or 13 points (8, 10 or 12 man section + 1 point). In the event of a tie then the result will go to section count-back and if still tied accumulative weight will decide the winner.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The All Important Draw Format:

We came up with a new Draw Format for when there are large numbers of anglers entering an event, the idea is to get the draw done as quick as possible to ensure everyone has enough time to get to their pegs and set up without the need to rush, the first event in 2015 was a success and worked so well we managed to get 130 anglers in and out in 10 minutes so we will be using the same format again highlighted below. Please take the time to read it, it is very simple but rely's on everyone following the simple instructions.

How The Draw Works
  • When you book in you will be given an envelope with an Angler Number on the front, this number is unique to you - YOU NEED TO KEEP HOLD OF THE ENVELOPE
  • When entering the cafĂ© please be courteous of anglers on other matches
  • At the start of the draw make your way to your teams draw table North on the Left, South on the Right (Draw buckets will be clearly marked North & South)
  • When you reach your draw table, draw your ticket and make a note of your lake and peg no, then place your ticket inside the envelope and seal it
  • Make your way to the end table to the single bucket (Drop Off Bucket) and place your sealed envelope inside and exit outside.

There is no need to provide your name and lake/peg number to the admin team as this will be sorted out once the match is under way using your unique angler number

Medical Assistance & Lifeguards Onsite:

Something we as anglers don't see on the banks of fisheries during matches are Ambulances but during the NvS you certainly will, we made a deal with one of the anglers fishing the event Jon Hilton who's wife Nikki is the managing director of the company Pulse Rate Events part of the Pulse Rate Group to supply us with event cover. They will be onsite to respond to any medical emergencies no matter how big or small and were actually used in the first event applying stitches to a laceration, they will also be providing a lifeguard too, and of course the ambulance will be clearly visible on site.
We felt the need to provide this cover due to the size of the event and not only that because we have disabled and those with quite serious medical conditions entering the event we want to make the environment the safest it could possibly be. During matches up and down the UK and within a very short period of time in 2015 several anglers came into some difficulty due to ill health which led to very serious outcomes and in one case the worst possibly outcome in that they died. These terrible incidents made the event organisers minds up that cover needed to be provided, hopefully the use of the service will not be required but the NvS is committed to providing a duty of care to all those involved.

Should anyone entering the event like to disclose any health conditions or just make us aware if they are struggling please contact us personally so we can ensure the medical team know of your condition prior should you need any assistance.

Pulse Rate Groups Ambulance onsite at all times

The Pools:

House Pool:

One of the main match pools with 34 pegs, the House pool is well stocked with over 140,000 fish. When the lake was built around 9 years ago, the first batch of carp put in were 4" to 6". They are now coming out at 2lbs and over. In addition to the original stocks there are also some hefty carp in the pool up to and over 20lbs with many between 2lb and 10lb. This pool also holds a lot of F1 carp, which make up the bulk of match weights, they average between 6oz and 2lb. Match weights in summer regularly go over the 150lb mark.
There are islands all round this pool, the depth is approximately 5ft to 6ft deep and the margins are good for carp, bream and tench. The F1 carp, roach, perch and bream can all be caught at 6mtrs. The fish will come up in the water when the weather improves and gets warmer.

There are lots of f1’s to be caught on pellet or meat, the fish move well in the margins and on the surface and in the warmer weather big weights are expected up to and over 200lb.
